Aljašský malamut

Alaskan Malamute
(Alaskan malamute)

The biggest and the strongest breed of northern sled dogs. The Malamute is a descendant of dogs of the Mahlemut tribe of upper western Alaska. The expression Mahle refers to a group of local inhabitanats and Mut is the name of a village.
Even though their robust build may frighten strangers, their affectionate nature does not make them useful as watch or guard dogs. Alaskan Malamutes are a very people- friendly breed and demand a lot of attention. They are very good companions, they can be taken for long walks, they are still in use as sled dogs for personal travel as sport is their natural way of being active.

hight: 58 - 63 cm, weight: 30 - 40 kg

Samojed

Samoyed
(Samojedskaja sabaka)

Elegant, smiling arctic spitz. This breed represents beauty, alertness, strength, liveliness and charm. Due to the fact that the breed has its origin in the arctic part of the world, Samoyeds have a dense, double layer coat. The topcoat contains long, coarse, and straight guard hairs. This top layer keeps the undercoat relatively clean and free of debris. Samoyed is neither as strong as malamute nor as fast as husky but among its valuable characteristics are diligence, persistence and fidelity. This big, white dog is named after an ethnic group of nomadic Germans- Samoyeds- who moved from the plateau of Iran to the northwestern part of Siberia hundreds of years ago. Crossbreeding with other breeds was impossible and therefore Samoyed has retained its origin. It is considered to be the breed most resembling the indigenous prehistoric peaty dog.

hight: 30 - 57 cm, weight: 29 - 38 kg

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sibírksy husky

Siberian Husky
(Siberián husky)

Medium size, active, energetic and resilient breed. Huskies are gentle and playful, they are very good with children. These dogs are thrifty eaters and need less food than might be expected. The light blue eye color is also part of the characteristic, but not completely dominant genetically. The breed may have one eye brown or hazel and the other blue (called „bi-eyed“ or, sometimes, „split-eyed“) or may have blue and another color mixed in the iris of one or both eyes. Husky’s origin is in the extremely cold and harsh environment of the Siberian Arctic. It was imported into Alaska by merchant Goosak in 1909. Goosak used the dogs in the race named ALL ALASKA Sweepstake. His sled won the third place and thus this in speed unbeatable breed became to be widely used in sled racing. First huskies were imported to Europe at the end of the 50’s.

hight: 51 - 60 cm, weight: 18 - 27 kg

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grónsky pes

Greenland dog
(Greenland dog)

Eskimo type of a dog with strong and compact build predetermined to persistent and hard work. Eskimos used this breed as a sled dog and to hunt seal and polar bears. Harsh conditions and treatment is reflected in the temperament which, unlike other sled dogs, resembles the temperament of a wolf. The Greenland dog is agressive and constantly starts fights. Due to friendly care, this characteristic is starting to change although the dog still remains very unfriendly to strangers.
This breed has its origin in indigenous Eskimos, who moved from Siberia across Alaska and Labrador to contemporary Greenland. Breeding of the Greenland dog is in our conditions very rare.

hight: 55 - 60 cm, weight: 27 - 35 kg
